Last week we wrapped up the story of Marie-Antoinette's diamond necklace, the world-shattering illusion that led to the French Revolution. A key element of that spectacular swindle was the use of a double, a look-alike for the Queen who made the deception work.
Magicians use doubles frequently - they say David Copperfield has a twin brother. We note that Houdini and his brother Hardeen looked like brothers, and sometimes subbed for each other.
Be that as it may, a number of our faithful readers wrote in questioning this aspect of the Diamond Necklace story. "What are the odds...?" was the gist.
Well, photographer Francois Brunelle has made a specialty of calculating those odds. The two gentlemen in the picture are not twins. They are total strangers.
